**Application Deadline extended by two weeks to November 27** We would like to apologize for some technical difficulties with the online submission and confusion regarding the email address on the form. We are extending the application deadline so that anyone who experienced difficulties in applying will have the chance to submit an application. Please note that the form will not send properly when using in-browser PDF viewers (e.g., Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Windows Explorer, Edge). Instead, it needs to be opened in a PDF reader such as Adobe (unfortunately, it will not open with Linux's built-in viewer). The email address for submission is mcbwtwincomm.ca. Again, our apologies for any confusion.
The Young Musicians Bursary Program is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications and will be giving out bursaries this fall. Printed application forms are available at Mansons Hall, the Klahoose Multi-purpose Building and the Gorge Store. A fillable PDF form can also be found below.
Our mission is to provide financial and program support for young musicians who reside on Cortes Island. For over 20 years, every spring, young musicians of Cortes have come together with the help of many dedicated adults, to put on a concert showcasing the emerging talent of the performers. From Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Bach to Django Reinhardt to Beethoven and Billy Strayhorn etc., the audience has had the pleasure of watching Cortes youngsters grow in their musical abilities and share the joy of playing music.
Another Cortes Committee has formed to take on growing the Bursary Program and keeping the Young Musicians Concert alive! We have dreams of expanding what we can offer to young musicians both in terms of bursaries and programing.
If you would like to support the Young Musicians Bursary Program, we would love to hear from you. You can contact Mary Clare Preston at 250-935-6384 or mcbwtwincomm.ca
