AGAIN-BY DEMAND-MITLENATCH CRUISE!
The flowers are in bloom as the sea-lions growl on Mitlenatch! Mating gulls and nesting cormorants–this island is a happening place! Walk meadows ablaze with Chocolate Lilies, Death Camas, Sea Blush and Monkey Flowers. Search rocky outcrops for Prickly Pear Cactus growing in the warm, dry environment. Watch territorial and nesting activities of many Gulls, Cormorants, Pigeon Guillemots and Oyster Catchers–those black birds with pink gumboots and carrot beaks! Enjoy a zodiac cruise around Mitlenatch shores to experience noisy seabird cliff rookeries, impressive Steller’s Sea Lions and agile California Sea Lions. Keep a lookout for orca encounters.

Departs Cortes Bay at 10:15 am, returns about 5 pm for ferry shuttles.

Day trips are $130 per person. Participants can choose to bring a picnic lunch or pre-order a sandwich & salad lunch for $12 each when you register. We recommend bringing gumboots or water shoes (just in case for going ashore), sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and dress for the weather. Don't forget to pack a camera, binoculars and curiosity! From off island you will need to catch a ferry in Campbell River (at 8:30 am on week days) that connects to the first ferry (at 9:05 am) to Cortes Island. Leave your car at Heriot Bay on Quadra and walk onto the Cortes ferry. A shuttle is available by donation towards fuel from the Cortes ferry to the departure dock for Misty Isles, and then return to the ferry in late afternoon.
