On June 9th there will be a A Celebration of Life for Beverley Mathews at 1pm at the St Patrick's Catholic church, 34 Alder Street. Tea will follow the service.

Please come celebrate and share stories with us. There are many generations of students, co-workers and friends that filled her life with joy and memories.


On the morning of February 4th, 2017 Beverly Anne Mathews (nee Horrex) 86, peacefully passed away at her home with children Sheril, Jeannie, and Richard Mathews by her side.

Bev grew up in Enderby B.C., daughter of Nora and Charles Horrex. She attended and completed Normal School in Victoria (1947-48), and took her first teaching job at Von Donop on Cortez Island. After her children were well into their school years, Bev returned to teach at Manson’s Landing (Cortez Island Elem. Junior Sec.).
