Island SeaFarms barge full and ready to unload
General News · 22nd April 2017
Amanda Glickman
Thank you everyone who took time out to help us with the eighth annual harbour cleanup! This year was sponsored by Island SeaFarms, who also provided the barge. A special thanks to Henry Vershurr for organizing to haul the debris away, and the Gorge Harbour Marina for providing the venue for assembling and BBQ.
We didn't get an exact head count this year, but we had over 30 helpers including the entire management team of Island SeaFarms, half of the board of HACI and many people who don't even live on the harbour. Thanks to Brian Hayden for collecting a good pile of debris over the past two years that we were finally able to collect, and to Barry Glickman, for manning the BBQ and getting the crew fed.
It was wonderful to see the Pisaster starfish coming back and the many harlequin ducks and seals who call Gorge Harbour their home.
A constructive dialogue was had with regards to the continuing use of styrofoam. Thank you Hubert for lodging the concern, and to Paul for addressing it.

Thank you everyone! We are all grateful...
