The Cortes Island Business and Tourism Association (CIBATA) has secured funding to develop a Local Economic Action Plan (LEAP) for Cortes, with the goal of fostering community economic development on the Island.
We are pleased to announce the setting up of a steering committee to guide the development of the LEAP over the coming year.
The committee has sought to be inclusive, and has a broad representation from the different economic sectors on the island including: retail, health, building / trades, forestry, learning / professional development, tourism, medical marijuana, social profit, aquaculture, agricultural and tourism, as well as the Regional Director and CIBATA.
The committee will be meeting monthly on the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Pioneer Room at Manson’s Hall. Meetings are open to all residents in a gallery setting. Public presentations are invited, and will be received at the beginning of the meeting. If you wish to attend, please provide courtesy notification to the chair Adam Schick at leapcibata.ca
We are very excited that the LEAP is a grassroots community document, and a vital part of the development of the LEAP is community engagement and input. Please keep watch for community events, which will be published on Tideline – the first one is our LEAP Launch event on Sat April 29th 3pm at Linnaea Farm – more details to follow. There will also be a community survey for you to contribute your input and ideas. We look forward to your involvement!
