Friends of Cortes Island Helen
Friends of Cortes Island invites you to join us to help remove the broom in Mansons Provincial Park.
The spit at Mansons has become invaded by broom, harming the sand dune ecosystem and the rest of the spit too. We have a small grant from BC Parks to help remove it.
So, we are organising four community broom removal events over the fall and spring to tackle the broom, and would love you to join us. Our second event is this Friday.
If you would like to help, please come along! Please bring loppers if you have them (no chainsaws please) and wear suitable wet weather gear, work gloves and sturdy boots.
Ryan Harvey, FOCI’s Parks Coordinator, will be supervising the work with Alex Bernier, following guidance from BC Parks. All volunteers are insured by BC Parks.
Oh yes, we will be supplying yummy muffins, cookies, coffee and hot chocolate to keep you going!
Event to proceed come rain or shine. Please meet at 10am in the parking lot. We look forward to seeing you there! Let’s make a difference and help look after our precious Park!
