Well we promised merriment and that's what you got.
It was a great turnout for all the boaters looking for deals or letting go of all the clutter in their out buildings.
And who would have thought so many Corteseans would want to toss a boot! After 15 women lined up I lost count and so many kids show up we had to create an additional category from just 14yrs and under to also have 10yrs and under. (Apologies to the senior who wanted his own category). Lots of teams competed including the Canadian Coast Guard but the Cortes Fire Hall actually tied for first place with Team Cosmos/Merlin with a total of 143.5 feet! Thanks to judge Ray Grout and Jenny Hartwick for measuring over 100 tosses!
Andy Ellingsen won the 50/50 draw for the Cortes School and he donated his winnings back to the school!
The Silent Auction table proceeds went to Cortes Radio. Thanks to donations by Mielle Chandler, Cortes Savories, Tanya Krahn, Amanda Glickman, Whaletown Soapery, & Gathering Places.
Thanks to our sponsors Canadian Tire, Superstore and Ocean Pacific Marine Supply and . . . . Squirrel Cove Trading Co., Cove Restaurant, EMCON, Manson's Hall, Cortes Firehall, Coast Guard, Cortes Museum, & Andy Vine & Friends. (Apologies for any omissions) and all our volunteers and friends!
And of course thanks to the Board of Directors and staff of the Harbour Authority of Cortes Island.
