The Cortes Community Health Association is launching an urgent Christmas appeal to support our vital Extended Home Support program. It is in desperate need of funding – our money runs out at the end of the year - please consider contributing if you can.

Extended Home Support

Extended Home Support provides crucial support to vulnerable seniors wishing to remain in their home on Cortes; many have lived on the island for years.

By offering much needed assistance, we help keep people at home for as long as possible amongst family and friends, and in our community, so they don’t have to give up the people and place they cherish.

The program offers essential help, such as moving firewood, cleaning and shopping, as well as nourishing meals. It also supports those recently discharged from Hospital or recovering from illness.

What we need

Our goal
is to raise $32,000. This will provide enough funds for the next 2 years.

Our deadline is the end of January 2016.

Please do what you can

Donations of any size are very welcome and much appreciated. Each will be helping some of those most at need in our community, like this elderly lady (name changed for privacy).

Jane returned from hospital and chemotherapy feeling exhausted and unable to cope. She was embarrassed to have visitors and became very lonely and depressed. When Extended Home Support was called to help – our support worker cleaned her house, provided some meals and took her shopping. She experienced an immense sense of relief, her depression lifted and life became enjoyable again.

Please consider contributing what you can in this holiday season, and help keep our precious seniors in their homes, and in our community. It will mean a world of difference to them.
