Cortes Literacy Now is happy to welcome our new LOC, Sobhana. Sobhana will be working with the Literacy Task Group on all upcoming literacy programming and on continued funding for Literacy Now.

In the last year we've had some great programming:

-Brought author Ivan Coyote to Cortes and Quadra for a reading tour
-Contributed to Reel Youth's Intergenerational Film Program
-Funded Crafternoons and Crafternoons for Younger Folks (in partnership with CCHA)
-Funded The Nature Club youth programming
-Held 2014's Young Writer's Prize creative writing contest that awarded three cash prizes totalling $200 to young writers, with 2015’s deadline soon to close!
-Brought poet Linda Rogers to Cortes and Quadra for a reading tour
-Contributed to the funding of the Cortes WiFi Society’s digital literacy programs
-Contributed to another off-island trip for local teens to Strathcona Park (in partnership with CCHA)

Watch for more great programming from Literacy Now in the coming year!
