Friends of Cortes Island - Leah
Experience the beauty of the Whaletown Commons on a guided nature walk! Learn about the geology, history, ecology, and rare species found in this wilderness park.

10:30am - 12pm

To join us on a walk, meet at the entrance to the Whaletown Commons. The entrance is a 10-minute walk from the Gorge Marina, and is located on the North side of Whaletown Road, near the Whaletown Fire Hall. Just look for the big sign! If driving, you can park along the road or at the park entrance. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start right at 10:30am!

Walks are family friendly!
Donations welcome.

The first walk will take place on July 4th.

Oliver Kellhammer is a long time amateur naturalist, bio-artist and permaculture instructor. He was instrumental in organizing the efforts to acquire the Whaletown Commons property as a regional park, and has a fascinating wealth of knowledge about forest ecosystems.
