Stan Oliver
Dear Mr. Oliver,

Thank you for your email regarding the power outage on Cortes Island.

Unfortunately, the account number you supplied does not show in our Billing system, so I'm not able to check your particular address. >
However, BC Hydro crews and contractors are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the 3rd wind storm to hit the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands this week. At present we have over 240,000 customers without power.

Customers who are currently without power may want to investigate alternative arrangements to stay with family or friends who have power, as BC Hydro is predicting that some customers may be without power for several days.

We are unable to provide an estimated restoration time for you on Cortes Island, but want to assure you we have over 800 BC Hydro and contractor staff responding to outages and will continue to work quickly and safely to restore power throughout the affected areas. Please contact BC Hydro at 1-888-POWERON either later today or tomorrow to check if restoration times for Cortes Island have been assessed. We want to remind customers to exercise caution when using generators, connecting appliances directly to the unit and assuring they are in a well-ventilated area. Please do not connect your home portable generator directly to a house wiring system as it can ceate unsafe conditions for line crews working on the system.

Yours truly,

Sharon
