Cortes Literacy Now
UPDATE: All sessions are now full.
Cortes youth ages 7 -13 are invited to participate in this free Oceans & Arts program, with Sabina Mense and Odette Auger. This exciting program allows youth to engage with and learn about the oceans and shores, while crafting creative projects and becoming citizen scientists. Sessions will include:
August 14 1 - 5 pm World Ocean *
August 21 1 - 4 pm Intertidal *
September 4 All Day Subtidal: a Field Trip to Campbell River Aquarium
September 25 Evening Plankton & Bioluminesence*
October 9 1 - 4 pm Docks & Pilings
October 16 1 - 4 pm Deep Ocean
All sessions are on Thursdays. Space is limited. Dates with an asterisk will work for those attending public school. Please RSVP for specific or all sessions with Susanna 935-0347 and for locations. With instructor permission, youth can be outside of the 7 - 13 range and still attend.
Youth should bring a snack, water bottle, weather-appropriate clothing, and sun protection if necessary.
We are looking for several adult volunteers to help with the September 4th field trip to Campbell River. Please help out if you can!
Parents are encouraged to donate to the program, if possible. This program is offered via a partnership of Friends of Cortes Island and Cortes Literacy Now, and is sponsored in part by a generous grant from the Campbell River Community Foundation.
