Notices, Workshops & Rides: Kintsugi comes to Cortes: Oct 7-11
Ever heard of Kintsugi? It's the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with natural materials — tree sap, clay, and gold-dusted lacquer — so the cracks become part of the object's beauty rather than something to hide. These repaired cracks are called keshiki: scenery, a landscape of history you can hold in your hands.
Taught by local ceramic artist Yuka Morino (Three Little Spruce, Quadra Island), this 5-day immersive program — October 7–11, 2026 — invites you to learn traditional Kintsugi repair alongside making your own lacquerware pieces from natural wood. It's equal parts craft and philosophy: patience, imperfection, and the wabi-sabi spirit of cherishing what's aged and mended.
A perfect local getaway if you're craving something slow, hands-on, and meaningful this fall. Spots are limited!
