For 12 years, Cortes Radio sponsored one or two community Lip Sync shows a year as fundraisers for CKTZ. From 2009-2020 we did a remarkable thing- we put together a full show of dance, music, skits, and extreme silliness- in 24 hours. The crowds were enthusiastic, and some of the performances were remarkable and unexpected. We did one rehearsal to get the lights and sound coordinated for each act, and the next night we were on stage. No time to get nervous or too practised.
The magic of the Lip Sync shows was in the diversity of the acts- toddlers and seniors to tweens and teens, boy groups, girl groups. Rick Bockner had a part time career as the M.C. and existential joker in all the shows and will be participating in this new incarnation as well.
The pandemic put a quick end to such fun and it is only now that we have found the necessary leadership to revive this Cortes tradition. So mark Aug. 15th on your calendar for this major cultural event. Or better yet, start working up your act now. We will have some mentors available to tune up your offering if needed. This is your chance to shine!
