Notices, Workshops & Rides: Support for Caregivers

Supporting Unpaid Caregivers in Our Community
The CCHA and Support Our Seniors societies recognize a growing need to better support unpaid caregivers in our community. These caregivers—often spouses, partners, friends, or family members—play a vital role in supporting individuals living with dementia or chronic illness.
At this stage, we are particularly interested in hearing from those within the senior demographic:
• Seniors who are caregivers
• Individuals caring for a senior
Our goal is to understand what kinds of supports would make a meaningful difference, such as:
• Creating a centralized online resource list
• Facilitating small, informal caregiver support groups
• Developing additional respite options to complement services offered by Island Health
We would like to hear from caregivers about what would be most helpful. If you are currently or have recently been, in a caregiving role on Cortes, you are invited to share your experiences and suggestions.
Conversations can take place by phone, in person, or by email. All communication will be confidential.
