Notices, Workshops & Rides: Vehicle to borrow June 2026?
Hi lovely Cortesians,
I wondered if anyone might be able to lend us a vehicle for a short time on the island in return for cash or a labour exchange this summer.
We have relations who are long-term Whaletown residents and some of you may remember us from when my daughter Juno and I visited from the UK in summer 2024 - and before that myself from infrequent previous visits over the last 25+ years.
We are booked to visit Cortes with two friends in June 2026 - dates something like 10th-16th plus 23rd-30th June. The young people will all be 18 and are all very polite and responsible; myself I now count myself as an old guy!
Quite simply the young folks are paying their share of our trip and as college students do not have a lot of money. Sure I could hire a car but the cost split down is considerable for them! We just need wheels to get about Cortes during our brief time there. We can do the rest of our trip around Vancouver Island on public transport and so car hire just for Cortes would seem to be disproportionately expensive in relation to what would be very limited mileage.
We would be very happy to do some kind of labour exchange or pay for use of a vehicle, insured for me to drive at my expense, if some kindly soul might be prepared to help out.
An unlikely ask perhaps, but perhaps we could help you out in some way in return?
