About 10 years ago we planted one decorative Columbine (Aquilegia) purchased from a plant nursery into our garden. Since then we are astounded every year at the Columbine flowers that magically appear. They grow in pathways and rock crevices with no special care or attention - and we never tire of wandering around looking at the incredible variety of colour & shapes. Yes, they are a bit invasive with their carrot like root, but can be controlled if you have the heart to pull one out! Hummingbirds and bees love them too!
