Under new BC Ferries rules, damaged or inoperable EV's are no longer allowed to be transported on BC Ferries. This includes a ban on having them towed. As there is no EV repair shop or scrapyard on Cortes, these vehicles once dead or damaged have no way to leave the island, becoming a wildfire and pollution hazard.
