Notices, Workshops & Rides: should I have been more clear?
The Ferry shutdown service notice posted last night has received some negative response.
Big boats cost to crew and fuel requiring maintenance hours invested outside of a day trip to CR and back.
This is not a ferry of passenger service I am offering, rather a way to transport goods, large items either in bags pallets or totes I can lift w/boom to vessel and dockhead.
$1500 round trip Cortes/CR/Cortes costs can be split by the people or business requiring/using the service. I am not ruling out people who might need a ride off/on island but there are water taxis for that and am not offering a people taxi service.
I also expect users of the service would either be on vessel or meet at CR and Cortes dockhead for loading/unloading.
Yes, $1500 seems like a lot. Wages fuel maintenance..vessel requires seasoned capable men to run so this as a reasonable cost/price. Anyone willing to do it for less or free is most welcome to. I'm not trying to start a business..just fill a void short term IF needed and costs are met.
If I am to do this many hours must be put into prepping vessel before the shutdown. Its not just turn key and go...hence the post. If I am to help out during the shutdown I need to prep well before hand.
