On March 5, 2013 we were scheduled for an upgrade from Telus that was only to be a small amount of downtime for our Internet Services in Mansons Landing. Telus had problems with the upgrade and the power outage 15-20 min after they started the upgrade did not help. This power outage wiped out the new settings on the new managed router they were actively installing. The main issue was with transport and routing issues in Campbell River to make the new equipment talk to the rest of the world. In the end the upgrade still did not take place and the new equipment has gone back to the Telus engineers.
Twincomm apologizes for the downtime and will in the future communicate better so its customers are not left in the dark during these outages. Also, please do not hesitate to call the 1-866-446-6004 number during an internet outage and Twincomm can give you an update or even repair your internet over the phone. Twincomm does have multiple Internet connections and if the downtime is lengthly it may be beneficial in certain situations to manually move your service over to another Internet connection for the duration of the outage. This does require changes to go back to a dynamic service which has its advantages of determining the fastest path to the Internet. If you have questions about this post please feel free to email me directly at dinotwincomm.ca.
