Daniel J. Pierce
Dear Cortesians,

My name is Dan Pierce and I am a filmmaker from Vancouver. I am currently producing an independent documentary all about the forestry movement that is currently happening on Cortes. The film will explore the dispute with Island Timberlands, as well as the Community Forestry initiative being led by the Klahoose First Nation and the Cortes Community Forest Co-Op. I also intend to explore some of the groundbreaking science that is being done by Paul Stamets on Cortes into mycoforestry and the hidden powers of mushrooms & mycelium in regenerating the forest.

I am currently running a crowd-funding campaign through the Indiegogo platform. I am soliciting contributions of just about any amount—from $15 to $2500—and I am offering some outstanding gifts to our contributors—donated by some wonderful west coast artists and organizations.

The only thing that is missing is you! That is why I am writing to you today, to ask that you please visit our Indiegogo page, watch our trailer, read through our pitch, and consider making a contribution to our film. Every little bit will go a long way towards allowing us to keep traveling up to Cortes to tell this urgent story of your amazing community & forests.

Here are three ways that you can help us right now:

1. Visit our Indiegogo page and make a contribution

2. Share this page on your social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter (if you use them).

3. Send a personal e-mail to all of your contacts who love and support Cortes Island and its forests. (Be sure to include the above link address to our page.)

In order for this campaign to be successful, I need as many people as possible to jump on board with this movement and help to spread the word.

Thank you so much for your support.
