I’m just posting this to see if there would be any potential in a local bitcoin meetup. This would be bitcoin specific and not about crypto at large as most crypto projects are either tech companies with large premines of unregistered securities, or full on scams.
The style of the meetup would be a chill hang for anyone interested in the space no matter your knowledge on the subject, very beginner friendly. Some of the topics we could chat about would be
Bitcoin as a base layer for monetary settlements, Permissionless money, self-banking the unbanked, bitcoin circular economies, centralization vs decentralization, store of value with fixed supply and issuance, Satoshi Nakamoto, how the fiat system has helped facilitate every war since WWI, self custody, security, inflation and how it affects us, Bitcoin vs gold, corporate adoption and ETFs, running a node, bitcoin mining and the environment, grid balancing and leading the renewable energy sector, Bitcoin mining building grid infrastructure in developing countries as the network is a first buyer of electricity, capturing bitcoin minings waste heat to heat spaces, self custody, KYC, Peer to Peer, Layer 2, Lightning network, or just good old fashioned Number go up, and so much more as Bitcoin and money are truly fascinating subjects.
