The beauty and mystery of Slime Mold : not generally appreciated. This canary-yellow species (Fuligo septica) is known by many colloquial names, not all of them complimentary : Dog Vomit (!) - not as evocative as the Scandinavian Vomit of Troll Cats, or several northern references to Witches Spit and the like. Then there is Scrambled Egg Slime, Flowers of Tan, Jasmine Mold ... One suspects the list goes on.
In the photograph, the Slime Mold's location, where it "chewed" on the edge of the Pine stump yesterday, is clearly visible.
