First seen by Pete Elliot and Ann Dewar in Mansons Lagoon on May 25 - rediscovered by Aileen Douglas and photographed by Sandy Miller at the same location on May 27. Second record for Cortes Island (Fred & Ruth Zwickel observed the species in 2003, also at Mansons Lagoon) : a rare bird indeed, far off its summer nesting grounds in the Canadian Prairies.
