Artwork - Cards
My approach to my art form of Watercolour is pretty simple. If I see some amazing thing going on out in the world, such as colours and form in my garden or in the landscape, I get an urge to paint it. I also use my imagination to create some of my paintings. But nature is so varied that usually my imagination cannot compete.
I have a very pleasant studio that looks into our fabulous Tiber bay garden. The cycles of nature keep me in touch with the changes. It is often the changes of light or weather that seem to create the most exciting effects.
I joined the Craft Shop Co-op while living at Refuge cove. I had just started getting my cards printed. I was encouraged to join and have been with the Craft Shop now for at least 13 years. I have been greatly supported by my fellow artists.
I mostly sell and market my art on Cortes. I have been using my paintings to create cards. I sell both cards and paintings at the Craft shop. I encourage people to come out to my studio at Tiber bay as I rarely have a big selection of paintings on display at the shop due to space considerations.
I also sell my cards and have art on display at Hollyhock, cards at Marnie’s Books and also the Gorge Marina. In the high summer season I have cards and some art on sale at the Friday market. I have had shows and have given workshops on watercolour at the School house Gallery where we try to include all art forms and encourage new artists to join and show.
