We are thrilled to share some wonderful news.
The Lip Sync raised $1,000 for the DeathCare Collective and the Harvesting Gratitude Festival raised $8,966.30. That’s almost $10,000 raised for the DCC through two events that brought our community together with so much laughter, fun and generosity.
The DeathCare Collective is perhaps best known for being part of gatherings at the cemetery, where we acknowledge death as part of life. How lovely to have these two occasions where we came together just to have fun, celebrate, and enjoy one another — and to have meaningful support for our work.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who organized, performed, volunteered, donated, showed up, cheered, danced, laughed and helped make these events such a success. And to our entire community: thank you for believing in this work and supporting the DeathCare Collective.
Special thanks to Jason, Bobbie Gene and Deborah who generously donated their considerable time and energy to create these community events.
We heard from some of you that donating through the websites, particularly when using a phone, posed challenges. We apologize it wasn't more streamlined and if you are still interested in making a donation, we would be very grateful for your contribution. The simplest way to do this is by e-transfer to
moneystewardislanddeathcare.ca. For those who need an alternative or would like a tax deductible receipt, follow this link to
www.https://cortesfoundation.ca/donate/ and choose “DeathCare Collective Project”.
This financial support allows us to roll up our sleeves and focus our energy on what we really want to be doing: supporting the community to engage in meaningful conversations around death and grief, and assisting in preparing for and navigating end-of-life journeys.
