This year we have served an average of 40 clients per month, with a total of 417 client visits, and have distributed over 1000 pounds of food! We usually see a considerable decrease in numbers during the summer, but not this year. This tells us that the need is growing, and we’re doing our best to meet it with our limited resources.

So far we have been successful in obtaining grant funding for our infrastructure needs, which is amazing! However, it has been much more difficult for us to secure funding for our day to day operations (i.e. food and staff costs). Because of this, we are looking for ways to sustain our operational costs more reliably. One of those ways is by requesting our donors sign up for monthly donations.

If you or someone you know is able to sign up to be a monthly donor, it would be greatly helpful! Even $10 per month would be able to provide a monthly produce hamper to a family.

We have a few exciting ideas that we would love to make happen once our operational costs are covered! These include purchasing a self-contained growing system to provide fresh produce and herbs to our clients year round, and an industrial freeze dryer that we can use to decrease food waste and improve food security on the island.

I will be at the next Friday market if you’d like to come chat more about our work. I will also be selling our new merch! We have stickers (pictured below) as well as tote bags.
