TLC's Deertrails Naturalist Program is an immersive adult workshop that connects people with B.C.’s natural habitats and conservation community. Deertrails is designed for students, teachers, artists, naturalists - any nature-lover looking to connect with the living world!

This year, learn from local mentors Duane J. Hanson, Autumn Barrett-Morgan and Tamara McPhail, and guests to Cortes, Juliet Pendray, James Holkko, Sarah Smith, and Maleea Acker.

The 2026 workshop offers hands-on learning in fungi and lichen identification, circular farming, wetland ecology and restoration, nature-based therapy, photography, writing, and more. Participants will explore concepts in decolonization, braiding indigenous and western knowledge, land stewardship, and community resilience while building practical skills, meaningful connections, and hope for the future.

Workshop fees include meals from Friday night to Monday morning (dinners & desserts by Sunflower Cortes). Optional camping and Farmhouse accommodations available at Linnaea Farm. 50% bursary coverage available for applicants in need of financial assistance.
