Cortes Pride
See Jenny Magenta perform at the Cortes Pride show on July 25!
Magenta entered the drag & burlesque scene in Vancouver 2007 via a dare and quickly developed a signature style of "performance art burlesque with a hard side of satire". A 7-time Canada Council-funded artist trained at Simon Fraser University’s, “School of Contemporary Arts” in theatre,
Magenta’s work is a masterclass in tragicomedy & improvisational development for performing!
Drawing on over 35 years of experience in theatre, flamenco, bouffon clown, and elite ballet training, she occupies the space where high art meets the hilarious, unfiltered reality of the flesh. Whether performing a tribute to Janis Joplin or a hilarious piece on endometriosis & bisexuality, Jenny uses her "too much too loud femme monster" self to deconstruct expectations of the human form on stage, one tight dance move at a time!
