This year's Cortes Day is shaping up to be one of the biggest celebrations yet! Along with a full day of community festivities, we're excited to welcome a touring group of Chautauqua performers from Port Townsend for the weekend, adding even more entertainment and excitement to this beloved island tradition.

One of the day's most anticipated events is back—Nail, Sail & Bail!

Taking place at the Smelt Bay Provincial Park waterfront on Saturday, July 18th, Nail, Sail & Bail challenges teams to build a boat and put it to the ultimate test on the water. Whether your vessel sails smoothly or ends up making a spectacular splash, it's always one of the most entertaining events of Cortes Day!

New This Year!
We're excited to introduce two competition categories:
Adult Division
Youth Division

So gather your family, friends, classmates, coworkers, or neighbours and see if you have what it takes to build a boat that's both creative and seaworthy!
The event is all about teamwork, imagination, community spirit, and having fun. Participants and spectators alike can expect plenty of laughs and memorable moments as homemade boats launch from the beach and race across the water.
