An Unforgettable Evening of Breath work, Dance & Cacao Comes to Cortes Island
July 16th 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Manson’s Hall
We are truly lucky to welcome two world-class musicians to Cortes Island this summer as part of their West Coast tour — bringing together the transformative practices of breath work, ecstatic dance, and cacao in an evening of connection, movement, and sound.
This is a rare opportunity to experience this level of artistry on our small island. Join us at Manson’s Hall for an immersive journey where music, breath, and movement come together to create a truly unforgettable experience.
Liquid Bloom is the visionary world-electronic project of Amani Friend, cofounder of Desert Dwellers and curator of the Desert Trax label. Emerging in the late 1990s through explorations in music for healing and transformational practices, Liquid Bloom has grown into a globally celebrated fusion of world instrumentation, transcendent vocals, and modern electronic production.
Their performances have been featured on festival stages around the world, including Boom, Ozora, Envision, Rainbow Serpent, Dreamersland, and Colours of Ostrava. Moving effortlessly between deep ambient soundscapes, downtempo rhythms, and ecstatic dance experiences, Liquid Bloom invites audiences into an immersive shared journey — blending ancient traditions with modern sound design through rhythm, movement, and collective resonance.
Joining the experience is Alex King-Harris, also known as Rara Avis — a musician, breathwork facilitator, and movement guide with over 25 years exploring the connection between breath, sound, and embodiment.
Classically and jazz-trained, Alex’s journey led him into ethnomusicology and electronic production, where he helped shape the sound of Desert Dwellers, Shamans Dream, and Liquid Bloom. He has released music through Six Degrees Records, creating soundscapes designed to support deeper states of consciousness and embodied practice around the world.
Before his work in electronic music, Alex studied intensive pranayama with traditional teachers and apprenticed in therapeutic applications of breath and sound, including work supporting cancer patients. These experiences shaped his understanding of music as a form of medicine and a pathway toward connection and healing.
Come gather with community for an evening of breath, movement, music, and cacao — an experience that invites you to slow down, open up, and move together.
A rare offering. A beautiful gathering. One not to miss.
