BC Hydro has shared an update following the scheduled power outage that took place on Sunday, May 24, thanking residents and communities for their patience and support while crews completed significant infrastructure work across the region.
During the outage, more than 175 BC Hydro employees and contractors worked on important transmission system upgrades as part of the Jervis Inlet and Agamemnon Channel Power Line Replacement Project. Additional maintenance was also completed across transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
These upgrades are aimed at improving long-term reliability and helping reduce the risk of future unplanned outages for communities served by this network.
The work supports power infrastructure serving Powell River, Cortes Island, Lund, Texada Island, Saltery Bay, and surrounding areas.
BC Hydro noted that they understand planned outages can be disruptive and expressed appreciation to residents and businesses for their cooperation while this work was completed.
Residents are also reminded that the next planned outage is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., when crews will complete the remaining upgrades for this phase of the project.
BC Hydro thanks all affected communities for their continued support as these improvements move forward.
