Alex Nicholl is a long-time resident of Cortes Island. He purchased a piece of raw land near the Gorge entrance with a group of friends in 1972. After years of homesteading with his partner Martha on a shoestring but with strong backs, most of the partners are still part of it.

This is the second milestone party for our family and friends as we also had our wedding party at the Gorge Hall, with the same band, in 1990.

In his early 20s, Alex didn’t think he would live past 30. Fortunately, fate had a different plan for him.

We welcome all of Alex friends and acquaintances from the warm community of Cortes Island and beyond, for yet another celebration at the beloved Gorge Hall.
