The DeathCare Collective is hosting a movie night in the Mansons Hall on Tuesday, March 31st from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Doors open 6:15.

TENDER is a documentary about dying that is all about living.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the industrial seaside town of Kembla, a feisty and resilient community group have determined to take back the responsibility that most leave to someone else - care for their own dead. The film offers an alternative model of end-of-life care challenging current medical and commercial establishments. TENDER is at once a heartbreakingly beautiful and beautifully funny glimpse of an extraordinary community taking on one of the most essential challenges of human life … its end.

We screened this film in 2019, and it played a formative role in shaping the early work of the DeathCare Collective while expanding attendees’ sense of what is possible. In the years since, our community’s relationship with death and dying has deepened and grown in remarkable ways. Revisiting the film now, we’ll not only find it as relevant as ever—we’ll also see how much our community has evolved.

The movie will be in lieu of our regular community meeting in March.
