Our Community Advisory Committee helps ensure that the MicroGrants 4 Neighbours program reflects the creativity, needs, and opportunities of Cortes. It’s a small role with real impact, helping neighbours turn good ideas into community projects.

Like last year, Cortes residents will vote on which projects receive funding. The Advisory Committee helps make that process work smoothly.

Core roles of the Advisory Committee:
• Review applications before community voting (to flag anything unsafe, unfeasible, duplicate, or outside the program scope)
• Help finalize funding decisions based on the community vote
• Attend 2x 60-min Zoom meetings: The first meeting will be held sometime between April 16-21. The second one will be held sometime between May 15-20.

Advisors can also strengthen the program by:
• Helping to spread the word about the program
• Supporting neighbours who may need help applying
• Occasionally checking in with a project or two during implementation (mostly simple support or seeing if anything is needed)
• Helping to ensure projects complete a brief final update or “report back”

What’s new this year:
• Grants up to $1,000 per project
• Community organizations can apply, so long as their project aligns with the spirit of the M4N program: small, community-oriented, project-based ideas that benefit Cortes.

Advisors will receive a $50 honorarium in appreciation of their time.

MicroGrants are about small ideas that make our community better: gardens, gatherings, art, learning, neighbour-to-neighbour care, and so much more.
