Centring and amplifying Indigenous voices in her award-winning journalism led Odette to finding her own voice – strengthened through generous mentorships via The Writer's Trust, and the Audible Indigenous Writer's Circle.

Her creative nonfiction has been published by The Malahat Review (Waiting, fall 2023, and Run, winter 2026). Underpaint (TNQ Issue 175) is an excerpt from her upcoming novel Eyebright, Simon & Schuster Canada, spring 2027.

She lives in the forest of the Salish Sea, and is a member of Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation.
