CCHA Family Support - Desta
Discover the art of clothing repair in this hands-on mending workshop for women+, welcoming beginners and seasoned stitchers alike. Together, we’ll slow down and reconnect with our garments by learning essential mending techniques such as patching, darning, and foundational hand-stitching. These practical skills will empower you to extend the life of your favorite clothes, whether they’re well-loved basics or treasured pieces with a story.

Rooted in the Japanese concept of mottainai—a deep respect for resources and a reluctance to waste—this workshop invites us to approach clothing with gratitude, care, and intention. Rather than discarding items at the first sign of wear, we’ll explore how repair can be both functional and beautiful, turning flaws into features and wear into character.

Bring along worn, torn, or damaged clothing and work on them during the session with guidance and support. You’ll leave with newly mended garments, greater confidence in your skills, and a renewed relationship with your wardrobe.

Date: Thursdays, February 19 & 26

Time: 3:15 - 5:15pm

Location: The Nook
, the new building behind the radio station
