CCHA Family Support - Desta
Women+ are invited to join us for a unique hands-on workshop where you’ll not only explore the fascinating world of beekeeping, but also create your very own beeswax candles!

We’ll begin with a gentle introduction to beekeeping, sharing an overview of how honeybees live, why they matter, and how beeswax is harvested and used. Together we'll build understanding of, appreciation for and connection to bees.

From there, we’ll move into candle making using pure beeswax. Participants will receive hands-on instruction and plenty of time to create a variety of candles to take home, including:

Hand-dipped beeswax taper candles using a traditional dipping technique

Molded beeswax candles made with reusable molds

A poured beeswax candle in a mason jar

You’ll leave with multiple handmade candles and practical skills you can try at home. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

This workshop emphasizes curiosity and community—an opportunity to learn a new skill and enjoy the warmth and simplicity of beeswax in good company.

Open to all women, two-spirit, non-binary & gender diverse people.

Facilitated by local beekeepers Melissa and Sharon

This is a FREE workshop for women+ with limited space. Register here.
Date - Saturday, January 31
Time - 1:00 - 3:30pm
