FolkU
Do you have a learning activity, workshop, skill to share, series, or project that could benefit adults in our community?
FolkU has a small budget to help you run it, up to $500 per project (although if your project costs more, we’d still love to hear about it)
We’re looking for activities that:
Create learning opportunities for adults on Cortes
Benefit our community through education and skill-sharing
Can be carried out by you or your group with a modest budget
Who can apply:
Individuals or community groups or organizations
Anyone who wants to lead a skill-share or hands-on learning activity
How to apply:
Send a short message telling us what you want to do, who would be invited to participate, and an estimate of how much it will cost.
Keep it simple! We want to help you make it happen, not make you write a lengthy email.
Send your idea to: jemmacortesfoundation.ca
Notes:
This is separate from the Microgrants program. It’s similar in spirit, but it is more of a casual, quick way to get support for literacy-focused learning projects.
--Our program funding is meant to support casual neighbour-led learning and to recognize the time and knowledge people share, but it is not intended to cover professional or expert fees. We have a very limited annual budget, so we encourage projects that are hands-on and community-focused rather than subsidizing specialized services.
