Cortes Climate Action Network
Envisioning Our Way Forward Together
presented by Cortes Climate Action Network

The world is changing and calling us to act.

This summer, Cortes Climate Action Network had the pleasure and honour to work with Ilse Martinez, Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Studies at UVic, to take the pulse of our community and find out how we might organize to face and shape our future. Ilse’s project, entitled “Understanding Cortes Island Beliefs, Knowledge, and Preferences to Inform Climate Action,” involved multiple layers of community engagement and leaves us with tools we can continue to use.

We are celebrating the end of summer by presenting and continuing Ilse’s three main results, helping us connect with Cortes’ past, present, and future:

• An illustrated timeline portraying a brief history of Cortes based on memories and observations
• An interactive map allowing us to identify the places we love on Cortes and the risks those places are facing as the planet changes
• Results from a survey showing what you and your neighbours are most concerned about going forward and initiatives in which you’d like to participate

Join us for music, art, snacks and conversation!
Friday, Sept 26, 1–3PM in the Pioneer Room at Manson’s Hall
