Everyone is welcome to meet with us on Wednesday, Sep 17, 2:00 - 3:30 pm in the Pioneer Room of the Mansons Hall.
Our meeting topic this Wednesday is The Sacred Secular. Priya Huffman who has previously shared with us about tending the bodies of those recently deceased in the Jewish tradition will address us again. This time she will extricate the essence of those practices and apply them to a secular context and also talk more about how we ‘who tend’ can prepare ourselves inwardly to show up, be present, derive value and meaning from what we do as well as bring a sacredness to the tending of the dead.
The DeathCare Collective strives to integrate death as part of life by initiating conversations, providing education, and encouraging people to prepare for end-of-life. We also empower, guide, and support the practice and process of caring for our own dead and dying loved ones, in community.
Our meetings are structured with a time for optional sharing, an educational presentation, comments and reflections, and an update about projects in our community. Visit our website, islanddeathcare.ca.
