The SCCA has been working to design and build a multi-use sport court on SCCA property, right beside the skate park. You may have noticed the big hole in the ground!
This exciting project is eligible for a BC Gaming Capital Grant, which could provide matching funds. To qualify by the October 15 deadline, the SCCA needs to raise 50% of the total project cost. The total budget for the project is $370,000 so we need to raise $185,000! The SRD is working toward committing $100,000 in Community Works funding. Thanks to the generosity of the Cortes pickleball community, over $65,000 has already been raised. Now, support from the wider Cortes community is needed to raise the remaining $20,000 before October 15 to ensure the project can move forward in 2026.
Once complete, the multi-use sport court will provide a safe, fun, and accessible space for all ages to enjoy a variety of activities—from pickleball to basketball and more. It will be a lasting asset that brings people together through sport, recreation, and community.
How you can help:
· Make a donation for the “new court project” through the SCCA donation page
· Share the campaign with friends and family
· Stay tuned for updates as construction progresses
Together, we can create a recreational space that will benefit the whole community for years to come.
