The SRD has released its latest Draft Rezoning Bylaw, and our team has carefully reviewed it, comparing it to the key housing requests we developed with your support.
As a reminder, our recommendations focused on creating more housing options for islanders and included:
• Allowing Larger Cottages and Additional Dwellings
• Allowing More Houses on Existing Properties
• Promoting Affordable Housing Density
• Promoting the Regulation of Short-Term Rentals (STRs)
• Supporting Cluster Housing
We are pleased to report that the SRD's draft bylaw is largely in agreement with these community-supported goals, and our team is in support of the direction it is heading.
This is a critical moment to make your voice heard and show your support. The SRD will be hosting a public hearing to discuss the proposed bylaw on Monday, September 8th 5pm at Manson's Hall
We encourage you to attend and share your perspective or email your opinions to: planningsrd.ca
