Blessings To Last

Mountain sunrises to his east
the sea just a wave from his door
So much of Life an Inner Feast
for an Artist gentle to his Core

We shared the same Birth Date
me in fifty five, he in forty nine
while I found my worth late
he was long connected to the Divine

Some Memories fail me these days
while others hold on with zeal
One that dances through the haze
involved a gift to help me heal

During a Workshop at Hollyhock
a half seen horror from my past
haunted my tongue into fearful talk
Doug beaded a Blessing to last

It fits over my thumb or big toe
and it gives me strength to ground
I learned it’s not always what you know
that calms an agony new found

Doug was much quieter than me
at least he was his words
but creatively he was a Symphony
Artistically he soared like birds

His long time Flame a Friend
and when I saw them together
I watched as each would tend
rather than simply tether

Tend to the other dearly
listening like sea to the sky
Is Destiny set in stone clearly
or could it be summoned by

The integrity we impart
and the Love we manifest
