Cortes is working to become one of the first remote island communities to install an AI-powered wildfire detection system — the same technology now protecting areas across BC.
With support from Fire Chief Eli McKenty, CIFFA President Sadhu Johnston, and many engaged residents, we’re rallying support to fund the system and have it operational during the peak of fire season.
This network of smart sensors and cameras can detect wildfires within minutes, offering critical early warning to help protect our forests, homes, and livelihoods.
