Presentation by David Ellingsen
“Recent Photographs of Truth and Beauty”
Manson’s Hall, Friday, July 18, 7 p.m.
David grew up on Cortes and is an internationally recognized photo-based artist working on long-term projects that focus on forests, biodiversity, and climate. His work draws upon a colonial family history, often embedded within British Columbia’s troubled forest industry, and reflects on the impacts of resource extraction and consumption on past, present, and future ecosystems.
David’s work continues to focus on the land and the more-than-human. He will present the ongoing project Days of Plenty: An Archive of Abundance, recent landscape photographs from the shores of Cortes, Quadra, Hornby, and Vancouver Islands, as well as upcoming exhibitions and events.
Refreshments and desserts are available for purchase.
Everyone is welcome. The event is free, and donations are much appreciated.
