Campfires Banned Throughout The Strathcona Regional District
NOT permitted in any area of the SRD:
🚫 Campfires
🚫 Backyard fires
🚫 Beach fires
NO open burning permitted at all.

Cortes Islanders
The Coastal Fire Centre will be prohibiting Category 1 fires throughout the Coastal Fire Centre and the Strathcona Regional District is following suit with a ban of all open burning in the Cortes Island Fire Protection Area through Bylaw No. 557. As of noon on Thursday July 17th campfires, backyard fires and beach fires are not permitted anywhere on Cortes Island (or the Strathcona Regional District). This means that no open burning is permitted at all.
