The Cortes Climate Action Network (CCAN) invite you to a special two part Climate Town Hall + Community Visioning Event event on June 21st, Indigenous People’s Day and Summer Solstice.
We are curating a day of facilitated climate consultation, participatory events and presentations to help us imagine our collective response to the Climate Emergency. This is an opportunity to share your vision for how we can adapt to the changes we cannot avoid, and to confront our right responsibility to each other and all living beings.
The focus isn’t only about deciding together how to move forward, this will also be about celebrating our deep care and reverence for the land, our future ancestors, and for the people here and around the world who are directly impacted by the economic and political actions of people in power in this region.
A movement for climate justice centres itself on the demands, experience and knowledge of groups and communities most affected by the climate crisis. We understand that Reconciliation with Indigenous people in Canada cannot be fully realized without addressing the ways in which resource extraction and pollution continue to harm the land and the people who rely on it for their survival.
