Request for Submission - Cortes Island Water Tank Murals

The Strathcona Regional District is accepting submissions from artists for a mural(s) that signifies adapting successfully to a changing climate to inspire ingenuity, conversation and hope. The murals are to be painted on 4 different tanks located at:
• Mansons Landing Firehall (2 tanks)
• Sutil Road (2 tanks)

Each water tank is approximately 12’ diameter x 20’ high. The budget available for this work is $4,200 per mural.

Submissions may be:
•Online at www.srd.ca/es-publicart
•Dropped off or mailed at Strathcona Regional District’s office located at 990 Cedar St. Campbell River, BC V9W 7Z8.

A submission should include rendering of the mural and a description of how it meets the required criteria. Proponents can provide a submission for all or a portion of the water tanks. The deadline to provide a submission is 4:00pm on Monday July 28th, 2025. Eligible submissions will be ranked by Steering Committee members from the community, before proceeding to the Regional Board for approval. The successful proponent(s) will be notified on August 21st, 2025. The deadline to paint the murals on to the water tanks is May 29th, 2026.

This project is fully funded through a Disaster Risk Reduction / Climate Adaptation grant from the Union of BC Municipalities.
