Home Energy Rebates for Seniors

• Thursday, June 12, 1:00 p.m. – Manson's Hall

T’ai Chi Ch’uan

T’ai Chi Ch’uan is a low-impact exercise ideal for seniors. Judyth Weaver generously offers these classes for free; donations, passed on to some charitable Cortes organizations, are welcome. All are invited to join.

Carpet Bowling

• Sundays and Wednesdays. Call De0305 for more information.

Cortes DeathCare Collective

We work to integrate death as part of life by initiating conversations, providing education, and encouraging people to prepare for the end of life. We also empower, guide, and support the practice and process of caring for our own dead and dying, in community.

Our monthly meetings will resume in September. Enjoy the summer! If you have any death-related questions or needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us, even on short notice:

Walking Group

• The walking group meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9 am in the Manson's Hall parking lot for a 30-minute to one-hour walk, followed by coffee. Never cancelled! Come and join the walking group.

Cortes Island Museum and Wild Cortes

• Museum, 957 Beesley Road, Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 pm; new exhibition “Won’t you be my Neighbour?”

• Wild Cortes, 1255 Seaford Road, Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 pm; new exhibition “Humpback Whales 2.0”

Old Schoolhouse Art Gallery

HOMESHARE

The Cortes Housing Society is looking for people with a spare bedroom in their home or space on their property for a tiny home or RV.

Canada Revenue Rebates for People with Disabilities

If you have disability, you may qualify for Revenue Canada Tax Credits. See Form T2201 E, available from the Canada Revenue Agency website. (tip from Carina)

Quadra Island Shuttle

Starting June 1, you can catch the Quadra shuttle from Heriot Bay to Quathiaski and back, or to any other location on Quadra, for $20 one way. Phone # 250-914-1010 – booking in advance is necessary.

The Better at Home Program will be working with the shuttle in the near future after they evaluate their initial trial weeks. Better at Home hopes to offer this connection to its clients, along with a Campbell River taxi service, for those who have medical appointments in Campbell River on days when the Klahoose Bus is not operating.
